Folk Dance School– Nuestras Raíces

A few years ago the idea of creating a folk dance school where those who wanted to take things seriously came about. Raíces Group ambitions, however, went beyond merely teaching folk dancing but to be able to give people recognition for the time and dedication invested in such a complex discipline.

The dream became a bit more tangible when in 2005, Sergio Perez, Argentinean Malambo champion (1997) visited us. Sergio and Lorena, his wife, filled us with joy with their art and professionalism. Together we started to develop the idea so our dream could become a reality.

It took a bit of time and lots of negotiations with prominent people in our community but we can proudly and with great satisfaction say that we obtained immediate support.

Continuing with the negotiations, in 2007 we obtained the support of Mr. Daniel Uribe, Director of the Las Heras Dancing Institute, Santa Cruz. Then, Chaco and La Pampa Institutes also provided their support to the Nuestras Raices folk dance school.

Today, we can announce to our Spanish community that the school has open registrations and all those interested in taking classes can contact Eddy on 0417 232 241 or Lucas on 0412 465 279, or by email on raices_group@raices.org.au
